Types of Personal Information We Collect and the Purpose Behind It
Comments
When users submit comments on our site, we gather the information displayed in the comments form, along with the user's IP address and browser user agent string to assist in spam prevention.
An anonymized version of your email address (known as a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. You can find the Gravatar service privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible alongside your comment.
Media Uploads
If you upload images to our website, please refrain from uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract any location information from images available on the site.
Cookies
When you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This is for your convenience, so you don’t have to re-enter your details when leaving another comment. These cookies will remain for one year.
If you have an account and log in to this site, we will create a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain personal information and is deleted when you close your browser.
Upon logging in, we will also set several cookies to remember your login details and your display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, while display option cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me," your login will remain active for two weeks. If you log out, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish a post, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie contains no personal information and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded Content from External Websites
Articles on this site may feature embedded content (such as videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other sites functions exactly as if the visitor has accessed the other site directly.
These external sites may collect information about you, utilize cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your engagement with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that site.
Data Retention Period
If you leave a comment, the comment and its associated metadata are kept indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and automatically approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our site (if applicable), we also retain the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators can also view and modify that information.
Your Rights Regarding Your Data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
Data Transfer Information
Comments from visitors may be reviewed using an automated service to detect spam.
